Condolences
A note to Rob, Dick, Thom, Nancy and Mary, It has been a year since your mom passed away and with the holidays coming up I know you will be reminded of all that she and your dad were to you kids. They were very good parents, loving and caring. I have many fond memories of her and often think about our knitting projects we shared. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as her anniversary of "going home" comes. With love to you all.
Amy and I met Nan and Skip the first week we moved into our new home on Waneta Lake in 1989. Nan and Skip would walk their dogs past our home everyday and we instantly bonded over our love of dogs. Nan's love and friendship instantly made our new house feel like a home. We shared so many dog stories, happy hours and dinners that we felt like family. As we met the rest of the Moore family, we truly felt like a member of their family and have friendships that will last a lifetime. Not a holiday would pass that we didn't travel to a Meehan family gathering with one of Nan's apple pies traveling with us. I can still taste the chocolate chip cookies Nan would send me home with after Friday afternoon happy hours. Watching Nan visit with all her fans at The Windmill was quite a sight. I admit I was a little jealous watching her work her magic with all the vendors and leave more of her chocolate chip cookies behind. In Nan's later years we would bring her over for dinner and she would always arrive with her Manhattan pre made and ready for dinner. She was always so happy and cheerful right to her last days. I hope we can remember that smile and goodwill right to our last day. We feel so lucky to have had such a warm and friendly angel in our lives and thank the Moore family for sharing her with us. She will be missed.
Don and I met your dad when Art Bennett send him to our house to direct him to new houses in North Chili. They spent a few years on Attridge Road and then built on Westside Drive. That is when we spent the most time with them. Your mom and dad were very special people. Always friendly, always a smile. We shared apple pie, chocolate chip cookies, swim times, and visiting. Your mom always would ask me "what are you knitting now?" I gave her the chocolate chip cookie recipe (one with oatmeal) a long time ago as it was my favorite. Have no clue anymore where I got it from.
My prayers are with your family now as you gireve her passing. Just know that she is now with the love of her life once again.
Nan knew that i liked to write little dittys... so here's one for her.
On the morning of the 9th, it was a beautiful sunny day,
Nan put on her angel wings, smiled, then waived and flew away.
She's on a brand new journey and she'll be with her Skip again.
He's waiting at the gates of heaven to take her hand and walk her in.
She was very proud of her family
And she tried so hard to show
That she loved them all so dearly
With all her heart and soul.
She will never be forgotten
We won't let her fade into the dark
We will forever cherish the memories of her
That we will keep on the happy side of our heart
She had a way of enriching the lives of every woman, child and man
That was fortunate to know Nancy Moore
The little lady we called Nan.
I have so many fond memories of spending summers with my Auntie and my cousin Nancie at the lake and in North Chili. I remember she always had fresh homemade bread and chocolate chip cookies that were the best ever! She was so warm and welcoming when I was there and we had some laughs along the way. I thought of her as a second Mom to me and always has a special place in my heart. I am glad I got to visit with my Auntie this fall and she got to come to my home for a visit and to recall all the Caledonia families she remembered. I will always remember her smile and warm embrace, she will be missed. Love, Lynnie
I was trying to think of a great story that would capture how much my grandma meant to me and I truly have too many memories to pick just one. Something that came to mind was a little ditty that grandma would say while bouncing you (a baby) on her knee, since I cannot remember all the words, I searched online and to my surprise I found something!! Although the words I found do not match what I remember grandma saying….it is similar and brought a huge smile to my face!!
I have included a picture that captured this fun ride on (Great) grandma's lap, with my son, Elijah about age 2…I can almost hear her saying this while I look at picture….here comes lady Nimble-nimble-nimble…
I think grandma would have gotten a kick out of this detailed description found on-line as 'lap songs for babies' even if this differed from her version - so I included.
Place your child on your lap. Start in a controlled way holding babies hands, as you pretend to be the pretty lady out parading on her fine horse, then increases in speed and vigor as you turn into the gentleman smartly trotting, and finally, you give it everything you've got as a mad galloping farmer who falls off down into the ditch!
This is the way the Lady rides,
Nimble-nim, nimble-nim, nimble-nim,
Nimble-nim, nimble-nim, nimble-nim!
*
This is the way the Gentleman rides,
Tritty-trot, tritty-trot, tritty-trot,
Tritty-trot, tritty-trot, tritty-trot!
*
THIS is the way the Farmer rides…….
GALLOPY, GALLOPY, GALLOPY,
GALLOPY, GALLOPY, GALLOPY!
DOWN ….INTO THE DITCH!!
Sincere condolences to the entire Moore family. I am so saddened by the loss of my best buddy and friend of over 60 years! I will miss our nightly phone chats but will always remember the family trips together and the Wesr Side Drive gatherings. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
Love you, "Lolly"
