Obituary of Terrence Hardiman
Hardiman, Terrence L. "Terry"
Rock Stream, NY: In the early hours of, May 20, 2013 our dearest Terrence was call to the service of God with his loving family by his side. Terry was born November 12, 1934, in Elmira, a son of the late Bernard P. and Clara C. (Krazinsky) Hardiman. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert P. & Patricia Hardiman. Terry is survived by his loving wife and companion of 29 years Maxima (Cosme) Hardiman; sister, Suzanne Rankin with fiancée Terry Driscoll of Horseheads, NY; brothers-in-law, Victor Cosme of Rock Stream and John & Alice Cosme of Kissimmee, FL; aunt, Olga Krazinski of Elmira; many nieces and nephews; his two feline companions, "Pelusa" and "LuLu".
Terry served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was employed by the U.S. Federal government as a Geophysicist for many years. He was the director of the San Juan Observatory for 17 years and was given the key to the city and made a honorary son of the city of Cayey in Puerto Rico. A peak in Antarctica was named after him in his honor for his service with the U.S. Antarctica Research Program in 1965. Terry had many hobbies and loved to build model airplanes with the utmost precise detail and had a great and witty sense of humor which his family will surely miss.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Terry's life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Military Honors will be accorded outside of church after the Mass. Interment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport, NY.
