Obituary of Constance M. Smith

Constance (Connie) M. Smith, 74, of Big Flats, NY passed peacefully to heaven on April 25, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY after a sudden illness. Connie was a successful business owner of Tattersandscraps and a proud 'up-cycler' and maker of handmade items and original designs from antique, vintage and new materials. She did beautiful work and appreciated all her customers and people that visited her online shop. She had previously worked as a legal secretary for several agencies. Connie also worked at John Voorheis Nationwide office in Watkins Glen as a secretary with her mom and Jackie. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Celia Wakeman of Watkins Glen, and her nephew Steven Wakeman of Il. She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Smith II, of 48 years; Brothers and wives: Bill & Maggie Wakeman of TX, and Larry & Kathy Wakeman of NY; Sister and husband: Carla and Joe Mospan of CA; Niece Jill Hoos and great niece Jessica; Nephew and wife Robert & Ksandra Wakeman and great niece; Several aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. Connie was also predeceased by her many furry feline friends that she adored. Connie was a beautiful person, an excellent wife, my best friend, an excellent cook and helped me many times. Her lovely eyes, beautiful smile and laugh will be missed by all. I want to thank Arnot Ogden Medical Center ICU for keeping her stable until the Strong Memorial Hospital Cardiac ICU Critical Care Transport Team arrived. The Critical Care Team did a wonderful job keeping me informed, getting Connie ready for the trip and successfully transporting her to the Rochester Unit. I want to thank Strong Memorial Cardiac ICU daily personnel for their overall professionalism carrying for Connie and a specially the nurses for taking care of her. But unfortunately she had other organ problems before the heart surgery could be performed. There will be a private celebration of life for Connie at the convenience of her family. Interment will be in Montour Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls.
