Obituary of Robert E. Shutts

Robert Elmer Shutts, 71, of Montour Falls, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020. Born in Cortland, NY on August 27, 1948, he was the son of Elmer Shutts and Dorothy Louise Pierce. He graduated from Cortland High School. Robert was a truck driver for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and working in the woods. He loved nature, his puppy Missy, and spending time with his other half Tracie. He was predeceased by mother, Dorothy Pierce on March 29, 2010, father, Elmer Shutts, sister, Barbara June Shutts on March 10, 2015, and brother, Harold Pierce in November 2013. He is survived by his companion of 34 years, Tracie Diefenderfer; two daughters, Juanita Shutts and Paige Diefenderfer; four sons, Robert Shutts, Andrew Shutts, Bryan Shutts, and Robbie Shutts; a sister, Debra Maguire; several grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
