Obituary of Gerald H. Purvis
Gerald H. Purvis, 81, of Millport, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020. He was born in Blossburg, PA on May 2, 1939 the son of the late Herman and Eva (Wales) Purvis. He served with the US Army Reserves from 1956-1963. Gerald and his wife Virginia moved to Millport in 1962 where they owned and operated their farm. He also was employed with Eclipse from 1962-1974. Gerald was a member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club and served on the Town of Dix board for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia; three daughters, Lisa Purvis Niver (Frank) of Mooresville, NC, Natalie Purvis (Frank Cady) of Moreland, and Suzette Purvis Gehart (Steven) of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Judy (Dakota) Fritts, Harley Brown (Jayme Simmons), Stephanie (Josh) Webb, Ira (Alex) Cady, Shannon Niver, Jennifer Lindredge and Vince Roman; great grandchildren, Cheianne Webster, Alyiah Thorton, Oliver Simmons, Keilah Webb, Josiah Webb, Gavin Cady, Kambry Cady, Jesus Cady, Vianney Cady, Josek Cady, Aisa Cady, Josie Lyttle, Devin Roman, Cameron Gehart, Phoebe Lindredge and Collin Lindredge; two brothers, Ronald Purvis of WA and Edward Purvis (Mary) of Palm Springs, CA; sister-in-law, Dixie Purvis of San Jose, CA; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer Purvis, and by his brothers James and Richard Purvis.
The family is not planning any services. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
