Blair, you don't know me as you were born when Bruce Beth & I were well into school. Bruce, I do not know if you remember me or not. We were friends in grade school and I like to think I was a special friend of Beth your beautiful sister.

I only learned of your mother's passing a few days ago as it takes time for news from NY to reach NC. But I was saddened to say the least. I remember your Mom well and always thought she was a class lady. She was a friend of my mother, Carolyn Barrett. I especially remember one instance where your Mom, working at Izzard's Dept. Store in Elmira, discreetly secreted a mink hat that my mother wanted to buy until she had the money.

But I was really devastated, shocked & heartbroken when I learned of Beth's passing a few years ago. She has never left my consciousness. I particularly fondly remember sitting with her in our "special" seat in the back of bus 36, pushing her on swings at school, dancing & roller skating with her at Teen Town. I still think of her often, even to this day.

My heartfelt sorrow, thoughts & condolences go out to you & Blair and to your families. May your Mom & Dad & Beth rest in peace.

I'm sorry for your the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful lady.

My daughters Ashley & Amanda Crozier went to Mary's Day Care many years back. We all loved Miss Shirley. She was so kind and not to mention very "Stylish". We will never forget our times with her.

Dear Bruce, Blair and families,

I was saddened to read that your lovely mother, Shirley, recently passed away. I well remember your beautiful sister, Beth, when we were elementary school students in Montour Falls. I was older than Beth but always thought she was the prettiest little girl I had ever seen, and I remember when she was crowned the May Queen. Years later, I had the great pleasure of working with your dad, Dick, at The Star-Gazette where we were both reporters. He was always so kind and helpful to me as a young journalist just starting my career, and your mom was always so friendly and sweet. I was deeply saddened when I learned years ago that your dad died at way too young an age and then of course, when beautiful Beth passed away years later, again when she was so young.

I think Beth was in the same class as my brother, Bill Tague, and I think you, Bruce, might have been in my sister, Cindy's class. Sadly, Cindy (who lives in CT with her husband) has developed a form of dementia at the young age of 67 and we are dealing with that. Perhaps you recall seeing Cindy and her husband, Jim Smith, at one of the all OMCS picnics, spearheaded by Al Stone, that was held in Catherine a few years ago?
