Condolences
I stumbled across this obituary and wanted to leave my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Thomas Carson. Mike Brophy, Lieutenant, Past Chief, (Albuquerque Fire and Valencia County Volunteer fire departments, New Mexico).
Joyce and sons:
Tom was a great friend beginning all those years ago at Canisius College. Although life carried us in different directions we were able to keep in touch from time to time.
His friendship was always cherished. He had a great sense of humour. The world is a lesser place because Tom has gone to his eternal rest. May the Good Lord grant him peace.
Kind regards,
Jim Sawicz
Tom's wife and family,
My name is G. J. Semler and Tom and I were B-Ball teammates, and roommates at Canisius. Then again many years later, Tom caught up with me for a bite to eat on one of my trips through Binghamton NY. He drove a long way so that we could catch up with each other. I'll always remember Tom for being your friend first, no questions asked. I am truely saddened to hear of his passing. My memories of him will always bring a smile to my face. God Bless you Tom.
Joyce and family, I was very sad to hear of Tom's passing. He was such a great friend to the Scott family and some of my fondest memories of Tom came from him hanging out at my grandfathers store and helping us with deliveries and with the funeral business in many capacities. He definitely helped shape my teenage years. He will be greatly missed.

Tom was such a wonderful person! He was so generous and so caring. When I go down memory lane, I see Tom in many many of those high school memories.
He gave me a ride to school every day, after he got the "bwana wagon". We laughed the whole way ... carefree days.
I'm so sorry for his passing; and I'm so very, very glad to have known him, to have those memories.
Tom, my friend:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

We are so sorry for the loss of Tom. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss his smiling face.
Always a smile and a wave. His energy and caring will be missed by a grateful community.. My condolences to his family.
As you are well aware, Tom was an amazing man who had a heart of gold.
Tom was 2 years ahead of me @ OMCS and graduated with my sister Sue so I witnessed his skills playing basketball. My dad would even attend these game with my sister and me.
Whenever I was in the area and we ran into each other he was would ask how everyone was doing. He was always sincere and genuinely interested.
My fondest memory of Tom was on the day of my dad’s funeral service. As the fire department played the last call,l broke down. Tom, always the gentleman, handed me his handkerchief. Told him that I would wash it and get it back to him. He smiled and said not to worry. I wondered how many others were recipients of this touching gesture through out his time at V and S.
He was a wonderful man and I have no doubt that he was a fantastic husband, father, and grandpa. I am so sorry for the loss of this special person. With deepest sympathy.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of Tom. He was, truly, a decent, community-minded, family man...and a great basketball player for OMCS. I clearly remember watching the teams he was on and marveling at how he, and the rest, were like a well-oiled machine. Two years later, when I became a senior, I made sure that I was wearing the numbers 32 and 33...because I was so impressed with him. Rest in peace, Tom.... you were a good man who did a lot of wonderful things for many people. You will be missed by everyone in this community.
A fond farewell to Tom from the shortest classmate to the tallest. Our family will always remember how you were always there for us. You were one of the best people who ever walked the earth.
My sincere sympathy to your entire family. Tom will be missed by all who knew him. Ed Grow
Carroll (Rob) and I were so sadden to get the text telling us of the passing of this dear dear man. Our hearts go out to Joyce and the whole family for their loss. Tom was such an amazing person. Carroll first met him on the basketball court. He said he definitely was a gentle giant, who once stuffed him in the small middle school gym, sending the ball out into the crowd, if you remember the gym from the then High School, you'll know what I mean. We were lucky enough to have him be in the Moose to sign the book, when we had Addie Weed (then 3 yrs old) well she saw him and ran right over to him and started a conversation, telling him she would like him to come to her birthday party. Well that started a bond that never stopped, she just always called him BIG FOOT, and he would always buy her a candy bar and if her sisters were with us too, they, of course, got one too. He also was the best boss our son Brock said he ever had. Thank you Thank you Big Foot for all the joy and smiles you brought to my and Addie's families!! RIP Big Guy

Joyce and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Tom once and that was when you were in charge of Sunncroft, ward 5 and the sprinkler system pipes needed cleaning. Tom drove all the way to Willard on his day off to clean the dust off the pipes. Of course, he didn't need a ladder because he was so tall. I remember thinking what a wonderful husband he must be to drive 45 mins. to help you. After reading what others wrote who knew Tom, I guess that is the kind of guy he was.
Prayers to all your family.
Tom "Tree" Carson is a true devotee, icon and symbol of all that was/is good in Schuyler County. The Old OMCS "Cheese Box" gym had to turn folks away to see the teams he was a part of play regularly. He has always been a friend to our family and a special classmate friend to Kathleen.
You cannot think of Tom without a smile on your face or in your heart.
He once tried to rescue a friend of mind (Matt) and the only thing in his way was bad atmosphere. He went in anyway; when he had to crawl out, he was pretty upset at his "failure." We cried about his effort.
Rest in peace, big guy - you have indeed earned your place in heaven.

Tom was my next door neighbor, growing up on Mulberry Street. His mom, Ida, dad Roy and sister Carolyn(Deedee) we’re very dear to my family in the 40’s and 50’s. Tom became a good friend of my husband, Bob and Bob encouraged Tom, an eager 12 year old , to pursue his basketball career. After college, we moved away but we kept track of Tom’s college days. I am so sad to hear of Tom’s passing and the loss to his family and the community, He surely has earned his place in heaven. Heartfelt condolence to the Carson family. Tom, thank you for being you. As a patient, you got me to the hospital before a really bad storm hit. As my Fiance` Jim Morrell was worried about me, you kept him assured & offered an ear. As Jim passed you were there to kindly take your friend & my love to his final stop, you gave respect, comfort & I'm sure you were sad yourself at the death of your friend. From Tom and Bob graduating together, their Mom's being very very close, to Tom and I working together at Shepard Niles, and years later when he shopped almost daily at The Big M and most recently meal delivery for The OFA, and his many visits with Keith at DSS...he truly intertwined with our lives. Tommy was my childhood friend and fellow classmate. I have fond memories of him. We lived next door to him growing up on Mulberry St. We used to catch Lightning bugs together and make necklaces from Chestnuts. He was everyone's Big brother they never had. Always there to help others in anyway he could. I love him and will miss him forever. My heart goes out to Joyce and the boys and grandchildren. RIP Tommy you fought a long hard battle.
