Great guy, I always looked forward to talking with him about such topics as woodland stewardship, country folks and spiritual thoughts. He was a very kind, insightful individual and I feel blessed to have met him and will miss our conversations.

Jake was a pleasure to know and work with at Corning. He had a strong love of God and the good things about who we were as Americans. I know that he had been having health challenges for many years and he did his best to stay healthy as he could. I know it wasn’t easy but he stayed positive.

There are no words I can type that can articulate the pain in Jake’s loss. He was a man who consistently reached out to others in need. His legacy of love, friendship, loyalty, and kindness will live on in our hearts as we grieve his loss. Please accept my deepest condolences both for Jake’s family as well as everyone whose heart hurts right now because Jake touched it.

How do I start: Jake was two years younger than me. We literally grew up together; played on the farm, in the barn, in the woods, in the front yard (climbed trees). When we got to be adults, we went out to breakfast almost every Saturday after his Bible study and then stopped at about every dollar store just looking for a bargain. Whether we talked on the phone or in person, he always told me that he loved me.

He was a great servant of Jesus(you can be one too, just trust ask Him into your heart today). I can just imagine him being with Jesus to celebrate Jesus birthday.

My love goes out to Marylou. She made sure he got the best of care. If she couldn't be with him, she would ask Clara or Howard(two of Gods angels) to sit with him. He was a great brother.

Please accept my condolence for to me Jake was always a kind and comforting man. I first met him while he was at Corning and he was always a pleasure to speak with. Then I seen him working at Lowes, and he still had that wonderful smile that was a testament to whom the man was. May God bless his sole.

Please know of my condolences as Jake has passed into eternity. Jake regularly attended a Saturday morning Bible Study led by a committed layman at the Odessa Baptist Church. On my very first Saturday attending that group back in early December 2001, Jake was present, and he was faithful to the group across the years. Often Jake would be the first person to arrive for our "before dawn" Saturday morning meetings. We were able to share so much of life during those times of Bible Study and prayer. On many occasions, as we shared prayer concerns, Jake prayed for me, and the members of the group prayed for him as well. I like to think that we prayed each other through life's problems. In any case, I came to appreciate Jake's love for God's Word and his willingness to share his faith with everyone. I also learned a lot from Jake on many other subjects. My best wishes to Jake's family and friends.

Mary Lou and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know the past several months have been difficult for Jake and you but know now that Jake is in the loving arms of Our Lord. My prayers and thoughts are with you all!
