Obituary of Thomas E. Collins

Thomas E. Collins, 86, formerly of Millport, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. He was born on February 11, 1932 the son of the late Joseph and Lula (Parsons) Collins. Tom was a baker for Millbrook Bakery for 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 426, and was a member of the Baker and Confectionery Union. He is survived by his beloved wife, Blanche M. (Herring) Collins; daughters, Deb (T.J.) Riley, Katrina (Gary) Ector, and Cindy (Rocky) Rumsey; sons, Thomas P. (Pat) Collins, Steven R. (Janet) Collins,Joe (Julie) Collins, and Tim (Wendy) Collins; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Black; sisters-in-law, Della Herring and Sandra Collins; brother-in-law, Dave Talada; several nieces and nephews; and by his loving dog Princess. He was predeceased by his parents, eleven brothers, and two sisters. The Collins family would like to extend a big thank you to the nurses and staff of Unit 3 at Seneca View SNF for all the kind and loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 1-4 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. Burial will be in Millport Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier or Seneca View SNF Unit 3.
