Obituary of Margaret A. Elliott

Margaret A. Elliott, 91, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving daughters Cynthia and Cherrie. She was born in Elmira, NY on January 5, 1927 the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Pawlak) MacBlane. She graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1945. On April 26, 1947, she married the love of her life, Thomas H. Elliott, in St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights. They were married for 71 years before he passed away on May 6, 2018. Margaret worked at Westinghouse for 32 years. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen, the Montour Moose Lodge, and at one time was a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Auxiliary and Watkins Glen VFW Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed baking, cooking, taking care of her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her children, Cynthia Elliott of Rochester, Louise Wilson of Bath, Joseph (Ann) Elliott of Corning, and Cherrie Hurd of Corning; a sister, Loretta Lynch of Arizona; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and by her dog Tammy. She was predeceased by eight sisters and three brothers. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 am in the link at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Care First Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Rd., Painted Post, NY 14870 or St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 N. Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891. Arrangements are under the direction of Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, Montour Falls.
