Obituary of Margaret Bulkley

Bulkley, Margaret Constance "Connie" Our wonderful wife, mother, nana, great-nana, sister and aunt passed away on August 2, 2012, after a most courageous, lengthy battle with cancer, at home in Odessa, NY, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Lewis N. and Dora Baxter Cole, Connie was born September 18, 1940. She attended Montour Grammar School in Montour Falls, NY, and graduated from Odessa High School in Odessa, NY in 1958. Connie is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 52 years, Allen H. Bulkley III, devoted daughter and best friend, Katharine (Kay), and son-in-law, Arnie Hughes of Odessa, son and daughter-in-law Allen H. (IV) and Beth Bulkley of Romulus; her beloved grandchildren David Jacobs of buffalo, Marine Cpl. Matthew (Kassie) Jacobs of Odessa, Alison Bulkley of Rochester, Sarah Bulkley of Clifton, NJ, and Madison Bulkley of Romulus, as well as soon to be great-grandson, Cameron M. Jacobs. Connie is also survived by her brother, L. Claude (Bonnie) Cole of Montour Falls, sister Kathleen C. Cleveland of Cayuta, sister-in-law Marcia (Kurt) Bischoff of Odessa, mother-in-law Frances Bulkley, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her father-in-law Allen H. Bulkley Jr. Connie retired from the Cornell University ILR library after 40+ years of service in the documentation center, as a Research Associate. She loved to travel around the country and the world, and made many friends with her warm smile and friendly nature. Many of her family members and friends will forever treasure the mementos that Connie crocheted and crafted for them. Her beautiful home welcomed many family members and friends to numerous celebrations of holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. Connie's life was full of love, devotion, good advice and encouragements for everyone. A special thank you to the staff at the Guthrie Cancer Center of Sayre, PA, especially Dr. Cynthia Lynch, RPA Sue Damico, Sabrina, Heather and the rest of the nursing staff, as well as Mary Kellogg and the staff at Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care for all of their loving care and help provided to Connie and her family. Based on her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. The committal will be at the convenience of the family at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
