Obituary of Barbara Grace Chouinard

Barbara Grace Chouinard, 84, of Montour Falls, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. She was born in Mineola, NY on August 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Gerard Oscar Peterson and Ella Louise Manion Peterson. She graduated from Northport High School with the Class of 1951. Barbara co-owned Noel Gifts in Watkins Glen from 1986-2008, and previously operated the Pine Hollow Nursery in Greenlawn, Long Island, NY for 25 years. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Catharine. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Richard Chouinard on May 1, 2011. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Suzanne L. (Jack) Cole of Jay, Maine; son Richard G. (Christine) Chouinard of Montour Falls; six grandchildren, Wallace Scott Chouinard (Erin), Elizabeth Louise Cole (Brian Magnin), Daniel Julian Cole (Danielle), Andrew Chouinard (Laura), Timothy Richard Cole (Brittany), and Ashley Kendra Chouinard (Alex Malinowski); four great grandchildren, Madeline Grace Magnin, Lily Mae Cole, Jaina Chouinard, and Maida Rose Marie Magnin. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 11:00 am -12:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Memorial services will begin at 12:00 pm, with her daughter, Rev. Suzanne Cole, officiating. Burial will follow in Montour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church and mailed to 112 Sixth St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891 or to the American Cancer Society.
