Obituary of Nancy L. Starkweather

Nancy L. Starkweather, 80, of Montour Falls, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 8, 2017 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She passed at home surrounded by her loving extended family. Nancy was employed as a nurse at Schuyler Hospital for more than 50 years. Cooking, sewing, shopping, and her family were the most important things to her. She was a very giving person to everybody in her life, always to the exclusion of herself. She was predeceased by her father, Charles M. Wilkinson in 1944 during WWII, her mother, Lillian Wilkinson Crandall in 1987, stepfather, Harley Crandall in 1993, son, Thomas Starkweather in 1988, sister, Helen DeSarno in 2011, and stepbrother, Roy Crandall in 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Dillman of Montour Falls, sons, Timothy (Kym) Starkweather of Alpine and Todd (Ann) Starkweather of Odessa; her significant other of 43 years, Arthur F. Joslyn of Montour Falls, and his children, daughters Kim Joslyn and Michelle Bump of Montour Falls, and sons James (Shannon) Joslyn of Beaver Dams, and Anthony Joslyn of Montour Falls; sister, Susan (Roger) Ferretti of Kirkville, NY; step sister, Connie (Wayne) Emerson of Tennessee; and half-sister, Pat (Leslie) Hill of Delaware; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 1-3 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by a celebration of Nancy's life at the Montour Moose Lodge. Interment in Highland Cemetery to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Schuyler County Humane Society.
