Edna Painter

Obituary of Edna R. Painter

Following a brief illness, Edna Rita Painter, 78, entered Heaven's gates on June 8, 2017. Edna was a devoted wife and mother, who had an unwavering faith in God and her religious beliefs.

Born September 24, 1938 in St. Mary's, PA, she grew up on a farm in Weedville, PA along with her 10 siblings of the Hess family. Edna shared many fond memories of her childhood, growing up with her sisters and brothers, who she kept in constant contact with until her passing.

Edna married the love of her life, Glenn A. Painter on May 5, 1955, in Altoona, PA, where they started their family. Edna and Glenn moved to Levittown, PA in 1960, and eventually settled in Beaver Dams, NY in 1966, where they raised their family of three sons and their daughter.

Edna was a healthcare professional for most of her career and spent countless hours caring for the elderly. Her profession was her passion as she cared for her clients with compassion and the respect and dignity they deserved in their final hours with their family.

Edna loved gospel music, country music, dancing, BINGO, traveling, and most of all, her family.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Glenn A. Painter. She was also preceded in death by her first grandchild, Brandon Painter, many siblings, and later in life by her partner and companion of many years, Richard Carpenter.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Tammy Lynn (Painter)McMindes and Scott McMindes of Beaver Dams; three sons, Stephen L. Painter of Painted Post Glenn C. (Barb) Painter of South Corning, and Kevin D.
