Obituary of Karen A. Morrell

Karen Peterson Morrell, of Montour Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Karen was born in Elmira on July 11, 1951, the daughter of James and Aloa Peterson. She graduated from Odessa-Montour High School in 1970. She was predeceased by brothers, James and David; granddaughter, Mariah Morrell; stepfather, Bud Swope; stepmother, Jane Peterson; grandparents, William S. Gott and Beatrice Wainwright, Stanley Peterson and Eleanor Pearson Pipp; and adored great aunt, Evelyn Fritz. Karen is survived by her father, James E. Peterson of Montour Falls; mother, Aloa J. Swope of Florida; children, Michael Morrell of Newfield, Grant (Samantha) Morrell of Millport, James Morrell of Montour Falls, and Kimberly (Bruce) Kinner of Cayuta; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Margo (Kenneth) Weidman, Mary Beth Beyer, and Kathleen Peterson; brothers, Robert Peterson, James and Sean Peterson; and 11 nieces and nephews. In keeping with Karen's wishes, there will be no services. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Schuyler County, 124 Marina Dr., Montour Falls, NY 14865.
