Obituary of Grace B. Davis

Grace Bird Davis, 92, of Horseheads, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at her home. Born on November 25, 1924, she graduated from Odessa High School in 1942. Grace worked as a teller and later Vice President at First National Bank of Odessa for 38 years. She was a member and treasurer of Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, American Legion 676 Auxiliary, the Home Bureau, and Zonta in Watkins Glen. She enjoyed reading, crafts, and playing cards. She was predeceased by her parents, Lyle Owen Bird and Esther Burt Bird, sisters, Cleo (Charles) Lovell and Genevieve (Robert) Potter, and brother, Ray (Claire) Bird. Grace is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack T. Davis; daughter, Susan (William) Tripp of LeRoy, NY; brother-in-law, Charles Lovell, special friend, Rosa (Greg) Wickham; and by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 11-1 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122, N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Odessa-Catharine United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Horseheads, Dutton S. Peterson Library or a charity of choice.
