Obituary of George Whipple

George L. Whipple, Jr. 77, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Schuyler Hospital. He was born in Pennsylvania on July 2, 1939, the son of the late George L. and Mary Ellen Whipple, Sr. George proudly served with the US Navy from 1957-1961. He was a retired police officer with the Cheltenham Township Police Department, and a volunteer fireman with the Glenside Fire Department, both in PA. George was a former trustee with the Town of Orange, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and worked security at the Watkins Glen racetrack. He was an avid golfer and hunter, and enjoyed having coffee with the guys at the Monterey Fire Department. George is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy; two sons, George P. (Janice) Whipple of Chesterfield, VA, and Thomas Whipple of Winchester, VA; three grandsons, John, William, and Thomas II; great niece Sarah; and great nephew, Alaric. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 12-1 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A memorial service will begin at 1 pm at the funeral home followed by military honors.
