Obituary of Marjorie Smith

Marjorie Lynn Smith, 46, of Montour Falls, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital. She was born in Corning on May 9, 1969, the daughter of Donald L. Smith, Sr. and Connie VanZile Greenfield. Marjorie attended Watkins Glen and Dundee schools. She was employed at one time by Walmart, Arc of Schuyler, and Paesano's. Marjorie loved life, her dogs, plants, and enjoyed watching the birds. She was predeceased by her son, Matthew Comfort in 2006, step-father, Kent Greenfield in 2015, and grandmother, Carrie Smith. She is survived by her fiancé of 17 years, James Cleary of Montour Falls; children, Ashley Smith (Jason Leonard) of Dundee, Amanda Comfort of Montour Falls, Rene Winchell of Beaver Dams, and Damion Westlake of Montour Falls; parents, Connie Greenfield of Dundee and Donald (Sharon) Smith, Sr. of Beaver Dams; siblings, Loretta Marsiglio of Montour Falls, Mike (Tammy) VanZile of Dundee, Donnie (Katie Jane) Smith, Billy Smith of Reading Center, and Chad (Tracey) Smith of SC; five grandchildren, Rhianna, Ryan, Jordan May, Rilley, and Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 10-11 am at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A celebration of Marjorie's life will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
