Obituary of Anita McCarthy
Anita Ferri McCarthy, 57, of Watkins Glen, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. She was born in Honesdale, PA on September 12, 1958, the daughter of George and Betty Ferri. She attended Pennridge High School in PA, and later graduated from Bradford Central School. Anita was a CNA at Schuyler Hospital, Unit 3, for ten years. She took pride in devoting herself to helping her patients feel alive and loved during their time at Schuyler. She coached Cinderella Softball for several years and was involved for over twenty years. She also enjoyed doing Macramé and going to Grateful Dead concerts with her husband John McCarthy. Anita was the backbone of her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her two dogs, Maddy Moo and Ginger Snap. She was always there for everyone around her and was like a second mother to many in the community. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, John McCarthy; daughters, Ivy McCarthy (Tyler Dale), of Watkins Glen, Hannah McCarthy (Brian Koehler) of Horseheads, Noelle McCarthy of Watkins Glen, and Taylor McCarthy (Robert Dupay) of Watkins Glen; four grandchildren, Oliver McCarthy, Celeste Dale, Briah Lynn Koehler and Tyler Elliott; her mother, Betty Ferri of Beaver Dams; sister, Lisa Doolittle of Beaver Dams; and her brother, Mark (Melody) Ferri of Tampa, FL. She was predeceased by her father, George Ferri; a son, Matt Elliott, and a brother, Bucky Ferri.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A celebration of her life will follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
