Obituary of Alta Sydelko

Alta G. (Wedderspoon) Sydelko, 96, of Millport, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Schuyler Hospital. She was born in Cooperstown on April 21, 1919, the daughter of the late James R. and Nancy May Wedderspoon. Alta graduated from Cooperstown High School, and married George P. Sydelko in 1945 in Texas. She was a homemaker and a former Chemung County 4-H Leader. She was a volunteer for the Millport school and library, and a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and William C. Bragg of Winchester, VA; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Pamela Sydelko of Woodbridge, IL; sister, Nola E. Osterhoudt of Sharon Springs, NY; three granddaughters; two grandsons; three great granddaughters; and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, George P. Sydelko, who died in 1993. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Burial will follow in Montour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Millport Fire Department, 2016 Crescent St., Millport, NY 14864.
