Obituary of Lloyd States

Lloyd E. States, 74, of Burdett, NY passed away Monday, May 4, 2015, at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center and went to be with our lord and savior. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Annette (Nandelstadt) States, daughters, Debra (Bruce) Melanson of Montour Falls, Tina and Laurie States of Dundee, and Lloyd Robert (Alicia) States of Dundee, Stepson, James (Sue) Welch of Newfield, and Stepdaughter Donna Colunio of Watkins Glen; grandchildren, Steven Melanson of Denton, TX, Joseph (Katie) Melanson of Elmira, Michelle Melanson of Montour Falls, Austin States of Dundee, Angel States of Rochester, Joseph (Bree Donahue) Colunio of Watkins Glen, Michael (Felissia) Welch of Solbotna, AK, and Nicole (Matt) Lynough of Elmira, as well as eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Alice States, brothers James (Carlene) States and Kenneth (Judy) States, sister, Alice (LaVern) Potter; and Kasey, his golden retriever and faithful companion. He was predeceased by his father, Lloyd A. States and sister, Martha Dobell. Lloyd is a veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1965. He worked at International Salt in Watkins Glen, and then found his true calling as a Carpenter following in his Dad's footsteps. He will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, and great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5-7 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Odessa. Those wishing to remember Lloyd may do so through memorial donations to the Schuyler County Humane Society.
