Obituary of Alford Johnson

Alford D. Johnson, 78, of Burdett, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Cayuga Medical Center. He was born on November 23, 1936 in Florence, AZ, the son of Charley and Myrtle(Smith) Johnson. He attended school in Santa Paula, CA. Alford served two tours of duty with the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam and retired as Master Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy. He married his wife of 54 years, Jean, on October 6, 1961 in St. Peter's Church in Lemoore, CA. Alford worked as a pharmacist in Schuyler Hospital and Cayuga Medical Center for many years. He enjoyed fishing, football, NASCAR and mowing his lawn. He is survived by his wife Jean; daughters, LaDonna (Karl) Brenzo of Horseheads and Patricia (William) Edkin of Elmira; sons, John (Eliana) Johnson of Buffalo, Joseph Johnson of Queen City, TX, and Andrew Johnson of Cortland; sisters, Carol and Betty; 19 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 1222 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. Graveside services with full military honors will be held in the spring at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Romulus.
