Obituary of Lawrence Ayers

Lawrence E. "Larry" Ayers, 74, of Watkins Glen, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Keuka Comfort Care Home in Penn Yan. He was born in Sayre, PA on May 19, 1940, the son of the late Merrill and Florence (Watson) Ayers. He graduated from Troy High School in Troy, PA and went on to serve with the US Army Reserves as a medic. In 1970, he married his beloved wife of 45 years, the former Rose Laughlin. Larry was employed with Westinghouse for many years and later went on to work on his farm. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Ayers and a sister, Pearl Ayers. Larry is survived by his wife Rosemarie; two daughters, Jean Robbins of Elmira, and Joan Wead of Land O Lakes, FL; a son, Tom (Bonnie) Laughlin of Watkins Glen; two sisters, June (Vern) Doane of Elmira and Jean Bennett of PA; two brothers, Henry (Phyllis) Ayers of PA, and Carl Ayers of TX; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service for Larry on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls.
