Obituary of Victor Merrill

Victor G. Merrill, 59, of Beaver Dams, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born in Elmira on January 29, 1955, the son of William and Marjorie (Tyler) Merrill. Victor served with the US Navy from 1972-1974 and received the National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Swarthout Recycling in Beaver Dams for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Victor was predeceased by his father, William Merrill. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Merrill of Beaver Dams; daughter, Tammy Sanford of Bradford; son, Harold Delamater of Elmira; his mother, Marjorie Merrill of Mt. Pleasant, TX; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Tom and Barbara (Young) Merrill of Watkins Glen, Bill and Annette (Reilly) Merrill of Corning, Barbara Merrill Armistead (Walt) of Paris, TX, Joanne (Ann) Merrill Francis (Danny) of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Nancy Merrill Harrison (Danny) of Sumner, TX, John and Juliana Merrill of Paris, TX, and Jeff Merrill of Pleasant, TX; his in-laws, Frank (Beth) Rogers of Dansville, PA, Ty (Kay) Rogers of Watkins Glen, Nora (Art) Niver of Millport, and Elizabeth Rogers of Dundee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 1-2 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at Montour Cemetery.
