Obituary of Velma Teeter

On Friday, March 7, 2014, our beloved mother, Velma Irene Teeter, 86, entered into the presence of the Lord. She was born on November 18, 1927, the daughter of the late Paul and Reva Dean and attended Reynoldsville and Watkins Glen schools. On March 18, 1945, she married Donald Dewitt Teeter. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Reynoldsville United Methodist Church. Velma was a great American. She made her home a place of love and hospitality and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her She is survived by her children, Steven (Lynne DeMund) of Ithaca, Donna (Matt) Steel of Ithaca, Kyrle (Brenda Converse) of McGraw; daughter-in-law Debra O'Brien of Burdett; sisters, Ruth Bush, Jane (Andy) Simmons, and Nancy (Fay) Combs; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and many relatives and friends gathered around America. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Teeter, son David Teeter, sister and brother-in-law, Dora (William) Bush, brother-in-law Ray Bush, grandson Matthew Teeter, and great grandchildren, Trent Cuykendall and Kooper Stannard. Velma's family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers, granddaughter Holley, great granddaughter Michele, Helen, Ethel, Evelyn, Rachel, Hadassah, Janel, and June. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 pm at the Reynoldsville United Methodist Church, Route 227 in Burdett. A service will follow at 4 pm. Burial will take place in the spring in the Union Cemetery of Hector. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospicare, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.
