Johnathan Ryan Bailey
Johnathan Ryan Bailey, 13, of Beaver Dams, NY, went home to be with his Lord on April 19, 2013. He was the beloved son of Roy and Lynn (Scharlau) Bailey.
Johnathan was born in Elmira, NY on February 16, 2000. He was a 7th grader at Corning Free Academy. A gifted athlete, he enjoyed playing Football, Basketball and Lacrosse. John was an avid outdoorsman who loved working on the family farm, fishing, camping, swimming and life on the lake. He was a caring and devoted grandson, who regularly looked in on his grandmother. On weekend mornings he could be found cooking chocolate chip pancakes for his family members.
Johnathan is survived by his parents; sisters Stephanie Webster and Sarah Bailey, grandmothers Phyllis (Rice) Bailey and Clara (Tillinghast) Greis, aunts and uncles Gary and Debbie (Wicks) Bailey, Sheila and Mark Hallahan, David Scharlau, Scott and Barbara (Donajkowski) Scharlau, Andy and Belinda (Chilson) Greis, numerous cousins, and other family and friends.
Johnathan is preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Bailey and Samuel Gries.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Moreland Presbyterian Church, 3045 Beaver Dams, Moreland Rd, Moreland, NY 14812, on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 for visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 -8:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 8:00 PM, with Rev. Anne Campbell of Moreland Presbyterian Church officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Vedder and Scott Inc Funeral Home.
