Obituary of April M. Derr

April M. Derr, 41, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. She was born on April 3, 1983 in Ithaca, NY, the daughter of Teena Acker-Wright and Roscoe John Acker, Jr. She graduated from Odessa-Montour High School and received her CNA license through BOCES. On June 28, 2008 she married Richard Derr in Odessa, NY. 

April was a medical office assistant at Arnot-Ogden for 6 years. Prior to that, she worked as a CNA at Schuyler Hospital, Lakeside and Brookdale.

April was a “fun loving”, hard working, dedicated wife and mother that cared very much for her daughters, pets and special step-mom, Babette Bibeau. April always had a smile and a silly sense of humor that made people around her laugh. To know her was to love her. She will be missed by many who will carry lots of memories and cherish the moments they shared.

April is survived by her husband of 16 years, Richard Derr; two daughters, Ashlynn and Addison Derr; a son, Anthony Lateroca of New Jersey; her mother Teena Wright of Florida; father Roscoe John Acker Jr.; brother, Roger (Michelle) Acker of Florida; aunts and uncles, Steve (Chrissy) Wright, Tammi (Keary)Rouff; and by numerous cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY.
