Obituary of Nolan P. Ernhout

Nolan Paul Ernhout, 32, of Tyrone NY, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Nolan was born on January 25, 1992, the beloved son of Anita (Miller) and the late Paul Ernhout. Nolan attended Bradford Central School and Emmanuel Baptist Academy and was homeschooled. He received his GED and later attended Tompkins Cortland Community College, earning his Associate's Degree in General Science. Nolan was an avid reader and writer and he loved to journal. He was an outdoorsman who liked to hunt, fish, and spend time on The Ernhout farm, caring for the animals and perfecting his hobby of growing hot peppers. He enjoyed summers at the family cottage on Seneca Lake, where he contentedly spent his last days with family and friends. Nolan loved to travel and wanted to see the world, and in his too-short life, he spent time in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. He explored many major cities and enjoyed going on several cruises. He appreciated visiting Acadia National Park, Mammoth Cave National Park, and the Outer Banks. Nolan was a foodie; he was a passionate sous chef, who loved to prepare a variety of cuisines and gather family and friends to share in a good meal. Nolan was a football fanatic and a Pittsburgh Steelers aficionado. We would be remiss to fail to mention that the Steelers are tied for the most Super Bowl wins ever by an NFL team, 6 Rings! Nolan served for years as a Deacon at Glen Baptist Church where he was also a Youth Leader, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Sound Room Technician. He was on the Board of Lamoka Baptist Camp, where he also worked in his youth. Nolan was compassionate and he loved to support and pray for his friends and family. He worked as a Life Coach and offered support to many people throughout the country through the Billy Graham Foundation. Nolan was blessed with a truly thankful, humble, selfless, and generous spirit. He had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and loved to laugh. Nolan was a devoted son, brother, nephew, brother-in-law, and uncle. He especially adored his nephews, Blake and Luke, who brought so much joy to his life. Despite battling Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy from birth, it never diminished Nolan's indomitable spirit for life. He loved life and was always grateful and empathetic towards others; he was more interested in the well-being of others than his own, and he was an eternal optimist. He made the most of every day. Nolan drew his strength from his faith in God. Not a day would go by without him reading, memorizing, and talking about the Bible, and doing his very best to emulate his Lord and Savior, whom he loved. Nolan was greatly loved by his family and friends and he will be missed beyond words. We look forward to the day we will see him again. Our lives are forever better because of Nolan. Nolan is survived by his loving mother, Anita Ernhout, and identical twin brother, Ethan Ernhout of Tyrone, NY; brother, Ryan (Jenna) Ernhout of Corning, NY; two sisters, Carrie Ernhout (John Forde) of Corning, NY; Mattie (Trevor) Sutherland of Reading, NY; adoring nephews, Blake and Luke Sutherland; uncles and aunts, Keith Miller; Gary (Martha) Miller; Brian (Stacey) Miller; Neil Miller; Stephen Ernhout; and Karen Ernhout. Cousins, Kristen (Mikkel) Miller-Debenedetto; Alaina (Kevin) Miller-O'Keefe; Michael Miller; Heirut Miller; Caleb Miller; Isaac Miller; Jeremiah Miller; Mariah (Pat) Ernhout-Fegley; Chelsea (Dave) Ernhout-Booth; and Adrienne Ernhout; and second cousins, Noah, Weston, Connor, Callie and Rowan O'Keefe, Ben and Mila DeBenedetto, Lily Fegley, Addie and Eli Ernhout. He is predeceased by his father, Paul Ernhout, grandparents, Warren and Norva Miller, Howard and Helen Ernhout, his sister, Hayley Beth, his cousin, Elizabeth Miller, his aunt, Susan Ernhout, and his uncle, Mark Connell. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, October 19, from 10 am until noon, followed immediately by a Celebration of Life. Services will be held at Glen Baptist Church, 3311 Reading Road, Watkins Glen, NY 14891. Family and friends are welcome to attend the interment at the Tyrone Union Cemetery, Tyrone NY, following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in honor of Nolan to his home church, Glen Baptist; to the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Neurology Clinic at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester; or Samaritan's Purse International Crisis and Disaster Relief.
