Obituary of Sherry M. Hubbard
Sherry May Hubbard, 74, of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born in Corning, NY, on October 21, 1949 the daughter of William E. Mapes and Genevieve Winnie Mapes.
Sherry graduated in 1967 from Corning West High School. She worked as a machinist for Shepard Niles and retired from Cornell University as a library tech.
Sherry had many interests. She was a Schuyler County Cinderella softball coach for the Townsend Moose team, a Volunteer at the Montour Falls Library, and she loved spending time playing cards with friends. Most important to her was being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sherry was a friend to anyone she met. She always gave more than she expected to receive. Everyone who knew her and remember her say she was a great friend and a wonderful person. We will miss her.
She was predeceased by her father and mother; and by her pet Molly.
She is survived by her two daughters: Michelle (Millard) Vaughn of Milford, DE, and Mary Kay (Louise) Wrubel of Watkins Glen, NY; her son Donald (Aimee) Hubbard of Azle, TX; sister, Peggy (Lee) Bonzo of Watkins Glen, NY; brother, Edward (Peggy) Mapes of Watkins Glen, NY; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Travis Glenn, Trae Cleveland, Cody Cleveland, Trentin Barber, Morgan Cook, Joshua Hubbard, Austin Hubbard, Boyd Barber, Carly Wrubel, Justin Wrubel, Connor Hubbard, Layla Glenn, Ryder Glenn, Gunner Glenn, Luna Cleveland, Indie Cleveland, Jensen Cleveland, Colton Cleveland, Elizabeth Cook, Jacob Cook, and one more on the way; five nieces and nephews, and many cousins, all who loved her tremendously.
Sherry's services will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of Schuyler County, 124 Marina Drive, Montour Falls, NY 14865 or the Arnot Ogden Faulk Cancer Center, 600 Roe Avenue, Elmira, NY 14905.
