Obituary of Sandra J. States

Sandra Jean States, 71, of Odessa, NY entered unto rest on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at home. She was born in Elmira, NY on June 13, 1952 the daughter of Marcus Elmont Hipple and Cora Ellen Ayrton Hipple. She graduated from Ithaca High School and later from C.C.C. with a degree in Nursing. Sandy was a registered nurse for many years in both Schuyler and Tompkins County. On July 20, 1996, she married Robert States in Montour Falls, NY.

She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Mark Hipple; sister, Debra Hipple; granddaughter, Jenieve Savunen; and step son, Joel E. States.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert G. States; two daughters, Torrie Savunen of Horseheads, NY and Autumn VanOstrand of Odessa, NY; one son, Jeffrey (Amy) Savunen of Horseheads; six grandchildren, two sisters, Susan (Randy) Randall of Daytona Beach, FL. And Karen Harvey of Spencer, NY; brother, James (Evelyn) Hipplle of Honolulu, HI; aunts, Joan Lockwood and Bonnie (Bob) Bastion; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. A celebration of life will follow at the Mechanics Club, 237 W. Main St., Montour Falls, NY. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
