Obituary of Doris J. Woodworth

Doris (Jean) Woodworth, 89, long time resident of Montour Falls, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024 following an extended diagnosis of Alzheimer's Dementia at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls. She was born on April 17, 1934. Jean graduated from Watkins Glen High School where she was a sports enthusiast and a talented athlete. Jean loved her family unconditionally and devoted her life to being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoying baking and gardening. Her famous brownies with pink icing were a neighborhood favorite. She was also an impeccable housekeeper. Jean was particularly fond of animals, especially a gray cat named Princess. Jean is survived by her two sons whom she adored, Stephen (Theresa) Woodworth and Gary (Jacqueline) Woodworth in addition to several grandchildren and great grandchildren; Derek Woodworth, Luke (McKenna) Apgar, Matthew (Taylor) Woodworth, Margaret Woodworth, Hayden Woodworth, Natalee Woodworth, Khloe Goodrich, Brooke Apgar, and Benjamin Woodworth. Jean was the wife of the late Bruce Nary Woodworth. She was also predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Alda Strong, as well as her sister, Eileen Layton, and her brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Joan Strong. The family wishes to thank the staff members at the Seneca View Nursing Facility and the Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their tremendous care and compassion. There will be no calling hours as per the family's request. The family will hold a private service. Burial will be in Montour Cemetery.
