Obituary of Jesse L. Ellison

Jesse Lee Ellison, 89, of Tyrone, NY, died on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He was born in Lindley, NY on November 20, 1934 the son of the late Jesse Claude Ellison and Viola (Miller) Ellison. He graduated from Bradford Central School with the Class of 1954. He then served with the US Army Reserves from 1955-1963.

Jesse's career began driving tractor trailer, hauling brick freight and cattle. He then was a bus driver for Greyhound for 25 years, retiring on April 1, 1990. After retiring from Greyhound, he drove for Trailways, was a real estate broker and then became Tax Assessor for the Town of Tyrone.

On October 24, 1992, Jesse married his wife Marvella in Tyrone, NY. Jesse was a member of the Tyrone United Methodist Church, the Mechanics Club and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marvella (Sechrist); two sons, Claude Ellison of Tyrone, NY and Jamie (Rosie) Ellison of Beaver Dams, NY; two brothers, Leland Ellison of MO and Raymond Ellison of Monterey; two sisters, Kathleen Tinker of Painted Post, NY and Bonnie Birch of NC; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David Ellison.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 3-5 pm at Vedder-Scott & Zinger Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY. His memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm. Burial will be in Tyrone Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
