Obituary of Janice Vaughn-Young

Janice Angela Vaughn-Young, 55, of Montour Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center with her family by her side. Jan was born in Ithaca, NY on October 16, 1968, the daughter of the late Edward Vaughn, Sr. and Angelita Bruman, whom she is survived by. She is also survived by her husband, Scott Young; sons, Anthony Vaughn, Alexander Rice and Simon (Emmie) Rice; brother, Edward (Susan) Vaughn; sisters, Deborah (Mark) Holton and Diana (William) Vaughn-Russell; brother-in-law, Edward Overhiser; and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Overhiser and brother, Brady Vaughn. Jan loved going on cruises to see the world, watching TV game shows, driving while listening to her favorite music, and above all spending time with family and friends. Jan was a US Army veteran and went on to become a RN for over 20 years. She will be remembered best for her passion for helping others with her heart of gold. We will miss her ability to bring joy and laughter into any room with a funny joke or sarcastic comment. Jan was a strong woman and always determined to handle anything life threw at her with grace and humor. She never let the difficult things break her spirit or make her smile fade. She was a real go-getter when she wanted something. She was determined to make it happen. Jan was never afraid to speak her mind or stand up for what she believed in. She showed us that no matter what you go through, there is always something to be grateful for. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life for Jan will be held at a later date.
