Obituary of Harriette E. Fox

Harriette (Neal) Fox, age 89, of Odessa, NY passed away Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at her home in Odessa. Harriette was born on September 9th, 1933 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Marion and Clinton J. Neal. She earned her RN at Arnot Ogden School of Nursing, a teaching degree from SUNY Oswego, and her master's degree from St. Bonaventure. She worked as a RN, a dental assistant, and she created the first Dental Assisting Class at SCT BOCES in Elmira. Harriette was the principal at Western Delaware and OCM BOCES, retiring in 1999. She also worked for Chemung County Health Dept, retiring at the age of 84. She loved hiking and canoeing in the Adirondacks with her husband Howard and family. She enjoyed living at their lake house on Seneca Lake for many years. Harriette also loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them grow. Harriette is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Gary ) Emerson and Deborah ( Eric) Griffin; grandchildren, Cody (Natalie) Evans, Brian (Valerie) Emerson and Christie (Kyle) Leach, and Kate (Gerard) LeClair; and great grandchildren, Shiloh and Maggie Leach, Kali Jean Emerson, Aeowyn and Marilla Evans, Aiden, Grace and Phoebe LeClair; and her niece Yvonne (Joseph Campbell) Taylor. In addition to her parents, Harriette was predeceased by her husband, Howard in 2013; and her sisters, Barbara Soper and Wilda Beligotti. Harriette is also survived by her canine companion, Cheekitah. Harriette will be buried at Hector Presbyterian Cemetery in Hector, NY with her husband. Her family held a private celebration of her life at The Elf in the Oak in Burdett, NY.
