Obituary of Sarah A. Grover
Sarah A (Swank) Grover of Enfield, NY passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Cayuga Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Ithaca.
She was born on January 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Hurley and Laura (Wilson) Swank in Eagles Mere PA. Sarah grew up in Interlaken, NY before graduating from Interlaken High School in 1960. She was a longtime resident of the Odessa/Enfield area. She was a member of the Montour Moose Club as well as the Enfield Senior's.
Retiring from Cornell University after 25 years of service in 1996, Sarah enjoyed reading, sewing, fishing, cooking and baking for her family, friends and groups. Her true loves however were playing cards with her family and friends, bingo and traveling.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of seven years, Edgar E. Warne; Son, Phillip C Grover II, Sister; Ruth A Beattie, Brothers; Lamonte E. Swank and Gordon M. Swank.
Sarah was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves behind her husband of 55 years Phillip C Grover of Enfield as well as her daughters, Susan (Arthur) Howser Jr. of Enfield and Molly (Billy) Swertfager of Enfield; son, Stanley (Denise) Warne of Interlaken; grandchildren, Amy Landon, Anna Jennings, Stacey Warne, David Moore II, Jeffery Warne, Amanda Grover and Jenna Swertfager; eleven great grandchildren; as well as her brothers, Lawrence Swank of Trumansburg, Hurley (Linda) Swank of Seneca Falls; and sister-in-law, Joyce Swank of Ovid.
Sarah will be remembered by her family and friends for her sense of humor, direct thinking and sage advice. She will be deeply missed.
