Obituary of Richard S. Thompson
Richard S. Thompson, 65, of Odessa, NY, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at home. He was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on May 25, 1957, the son of John and Dorcas Thompson.
Richard was a self-employed artist and small business owner for 40 years. He was a true Renaissance man who excelled as a leather craftsman, carpenter, cook, world traveler, and multi-instrumentalist. Thompson was also known for his encyclopedic knowledge on a variety of subjects—largely self-taught as an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diane Koi-Thompson; daughter, Stephanie Koithan, San Antonio, TX; son, Joseph Thompson, Montreal, Canada; his mother, Dorcas Thompson, Sioux Falls, SD; five sisters: Sandrea Thompson, Tempe, AZ; Laury Burns, Tempe, AZ; Karen Thompson, Golden, CO; Sue Cullumber, Chandler, AZ; Marjorie Thompson, Milford, NY; and brother, Paul Thompson, Sioux Falls, SD. He was predeceased by his father, John Thompson.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 12:00-4:00 pm at the home of Diane and Richard, 406 Church Street, Odessa.
