Condolences
This is a note on behalf of my husband David Archung, who considered Doug a friend and a very fine workman. Together they remodeled a small cottage on Cayuga Lake, in the early 2000s, and Doug helped David on innumerable projects thereafter. David lost touch with Doug maybe ten years ago, to his lasting regret, and I was not able to locate him again. We were both stricken to discover that he was gone; and wish David could have seen him to say goodbye. David is now 90, and his memory is failing, but he remembers Doug and is sad at the news. He was kind and patient and a good friend to David. Our sincere condolences to his family.
I have fond memories of Doug from our childhood in Alpine. He was a good person! Whenever he happened to be in the County Building in Watkins Glen, he would always stop in and chat with me at my office. My thoughts and prayers are with his family (especially Connie) during this difficult time. Rest in peace my friend.
Douglas was a good nephew. He enjoyed fishing & camping. My wife & I used to go to breakfast with Doug which we really enjoyed & we talked about the old times. He was a jokester. I'll miss my little buddy. Uncle Mike
Doug could be a real pain in the ass; but he could also be kind, considerate & caring. He was funny & witty & intelligent even though he pretended not to be. The most surprising thing I found out about him was that he was a pretty talented artist & painted some beautiful oil paintings. I will miss him. Polly
