Obituary of George W. Hoffman

George W. Hoffman, 68, of Alpine, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at home. He was born in Flushing, NY on December 16, 1949, the son of the late Clarence and Rena (Centurelli) Hoffman. George graduated from Odessa High School and served with the US Army Reserves for several years. He married the love of his life, Paula, on April 14, 1990 in Cayuta. George held many jobs throughout his life. He worked construction for NYS, worked at Kolar Machine, Alpine Machine, drove bus at the Special Children's Center, owned many rental properties and was a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, camping, Family gatherings, buffets, and most of all, spending time with his family and his loyal fur babies Sammy and Tyson. George is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Jamie (Tara) Hoffman, Carla Myers, Brad Hoffman, Amber (Marvin) Davis, Christopher (Lindsey) Hoffman, Rachel Hoffman and Michael Hoffman. In addition to his seven children, he had also taken in Mackenzie Moore, Matt Smith, and many more children that were a part of his life that he considered his own. Also surviving, brother, Richard (Patti) Hoffman; grandchildren, Rebecca, Sebrena, Dakota, Jonathan, Lucas, Olivia, Collins, Kiara, Jalen, Jordan, Aleeyah Georgina, Lily, Jesse, Sophia, Adalyn, and special granddaughter, Emma; great grandchildren, Milah, Lebryn and Bailey; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Wayne, Steve and Fred Hoffman. "The only Superman we know we call Dad" Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 3-5 pm at Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 pm followed by a reception at the Montour Falls Fire Department.
